New Wine Tasting Room at the Outpost
We are pleased to announce the opening of our new upper-level tasting room, featuring wines from von Stiehl winery of Algoma and craft beers from Central Waters Brewing co, and for October-December 2009, Horny Goat Beers!
We are also Door County's first tasting room to offer wine and beer tasting's with pairings of artisan cheese, Door County chocolates, cherries and other food pairing delicacies from around the State of WI.
Our tasting room is open from 11am to 1.15pm each week day, then reopens at 2.30 pm through 6pm. On weekends we are open from 11am to 6 pm. [call head for Fall / Winter hours]
On music nights we open our tasting room straight through each concert, so come early for a pre-show featured wine tasting with von Stiehl wines. We serve our wines and beers by the glass/bottle, only $5/glass for most wines and $3/bottle for most craft beers.
We will gladly sample a wine to any of our visitors interested in purchasing a bottle, free of charge. We offer a 5-sample tasting for only $3, which is fully refunded if one or more bottles are purchased.
If you are looking for the ultimate tasting experience, please join us (by reservation). We vary our menu and presentations to fit around the availability of fresh local produce, but a typical tasting might look like this -
Arrive for a sparkling Muscat sampling and Hors D'oeuvres of locally smoked salmon on an artisan bread crouton.
We'll take you on a small virtual walk of von Stiehl Winery (without leaving your seat!) and present you with some tasting notes to keep as a souvenir.
Sample a crisp, dry Riesling, served with a platter of fresh organic mesclun and a light brush of house-flavored extra virgin olive oil with a dusting of fresh grated organic parmesan.
Sample a 'Naughty Girl', a full-bodied semi sweet red with a hint of raspberry. Served with your Naughty Girl, a balsamic vinegar and olive oil plate with fresh grated Romana cheese and fresh baked artisan breads.
Relax for a while and perhaps enjoy a small sample of craft beer from Central Waters Brewing Co, before embarking on your next delicious pairing - home-made pasta with a light herbed wine sauce, served with a pork scallop. A wonderfully crisp chardonnay pairing wine is presented, aged without the encumbrance of oak, delicate and light with a refreshing taste.
Settle back with a a pairing of our local artisan cheeses and a sample of Cabernet, before finishing with locally made dark chocolates and a snifter of Cherry Kirsch.
A special memento of the occasion will be presented before you leave.

New to the tasting room for the Fall season - we've been sampling Horny Goat beers - "Hopped up and Horny" and their excellent Belgian style wheat ale. Other beers we've sampled in the last month or so include Viking Beers, (Dallas WI), Lakefront, Milwaukee Brewing Co. and Harbor City. Our favorites....well, being an IPA fan the Hopped up and Horny from Horny Goat Brewing Co is hard to beat, it even pips the Central Waters Glacial Trail IPA by a narrow margin.
